Shropshire primary schools have again done very well in last years National Curriculum tests,
achieving above the national average on almost all measures. This confirms the pattern of very
high performance over recent years. Shropshire also continues to do well in comparison with other
local authorities in the West Midlands and with other similar local authorities. Shropshire schools
are placed within the top three on almost all measures.

Schools where 90 per cent or more of their pupils achieved level 4 or above in both
English and Mathematics include: Claverley Primary, St George’s Junior, Alveley Primary,
Moreton Say Primary and Worthen Primary.

In terms of the important ‘value added’ measure, many schools in Shropshire achieved very high scores.
Schools which did well on this measure of progress include: Whittington, Market Drayton Junior, Worfield, Condover and Hadnall.

Schools scoring well on both measures include: Hinstock Primary, St John the Baptist in Ruyton-XI-Towns,
John Wilkinson Primary in Broseley, Radbrook Primary in Shrewsbury and Minsterley Primary School.
