Young residents of Broseley will have a revitalised local park thanks to a double funding windfall. Birchmeadow Park Management Committee has received funding from two separate community sources, the Community Spaces programme and the County Playbuilder Programme. Community Spaces is part of the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces initiative. They have awarded £49,999, to help create a woodland path, bespoke archway and seating and to begin to provide a better play area for the toddlers of Broseley. It will also mean that the old equipment can be removed and a viewing platform created. The Shropshire Councils’ County Playbuilder Programme have awarded £50,000 to create a bespoke play area for children up to the age of 13. Shropshire Council was awarded just over £1million in April this year to create 22 play areas across the County over the next two years. The play areas will cater for the 8-13 age range as there is currently a lack in free play provision for this group. Shropshire Council’s allocation now means that not only will the toddlers of Broseley receive new equipment but so will the junior age group too. The aim is to have the play area installed by the end of March 2010.
